Released January 2008

Red Bank based poet John J. Petrolino III, after years of writing compiles Galleria,  a Collection of poetry and the short story “Three Lonesome Travelers.”  Petrolino, a Merchant Marine Engineering Officer by trade pens his work while traveling, at sea, home or at cafés in his beloved town.

Galleria  is a collection dedicated to the search of meaning, love, enlightenment, self evaluation and transformation. The book has been in progress since 2003.  The title poem “Galleria” is based on the transformation that The Galleria in Red Bank, NJ underwent which Petrolino viewed throughout his life time.  “Galleria, you are not as I remember you” Petrolino starts the poem….

“Things change.  Things change for the better, or so we’re told.  There is this destruction through ‘progress’ that is happening right now in America and a shift of priorities has occurred.  It’s like competing with the Jones’ all over again, focusing more on materialism and less on the succulent things of life…” Petrolino explains some of his message.

Galleria  is a true journey through one traveler’s mind and the story starts and ends in NJ, where Petrolino always returns from travels and sea.
